How to be Saved

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 KJV

Salvation is a process of confessing and believing. We are all sinners "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23 KJV and "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9 KJV

The penalty for our sins has been paid by Jesus Christ, God's son.

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed." Romans 10: 9 - 11 KJV

Prayer is a personal conversation with God and does not need to be scripted by poets or taken from books. If you believe that Jesus Christ came as the one and only Redeemer of sin, and you are ready to receive God's gift of His Son, Jesus Christ; then repent of your sins, ask Jesus to live in your heart, and commit the rest of your life to Him as Lord.

"Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Acts 2:38 KJV

New Christians

As a way to grow closer to God, the Bible tells us to follow up on our commitment. Below is a list of things as a new Christian that you can do to become, and stay, close to God.

  • Find a local Church where you can worship God
  • Seek fellowship with other followers of Jesus. Develop a group of believing friends to answer your questions and support you.
  • Tell someone else about your new faith in Christ.
  • Spend time with God each day. It does not have to be a long period of time. Just develop the daily habit of praying to Him and reading His Word. Ask God to increase your faith and your understanding of the Bible.
  • Get baptized as commanded by Christ.
